Why are my calls marked as spam and how can I avoid this?

Modified on Wed, 3 Jan at 9:46 AM

In recent years, the issue of robocalls and the manipulation of caller ID information has become increasingly severe. In 2019, it was estimated by the FTC that Americans received a staggering 40.7 billion robocalls. To tackle this escalating issue, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) developed specific protocols. Consequently, carriers have had to implement new authentication measures.

The SHAKEN/STIR protocols were created to ensure the authenticity of caller ID information, verifying its origin as genuine. These protocols operate by employing digital certificates that confirm the identity of the caller. During a call, these certificates are used to authenticate the caller's identity and are subsequently recorded in an online database. This process guarantees that when a call is received, the recipient can be confident that it is indeed from the person they believe is calling.

How to Apply for SHAKEN/STIR

After submitting their Business Profile, Agency and Sub-account admins can register for SHAKEN/STIR.

1. Click on the "Start Registration" Button:

2. Enter a friendly name for the profile, confirm the authenticity, and click Sumit.

3. You will get the success message for the submission.

The approval might take up to 4 days.
