Google Ads Out of Area Leads - Legacy

Modified on Fri, 10 May at 2:58 PM

Our marketing team goes to great lengths to limit out of targeting area leads. When we setup your ad campaign, we block areas outside your target area from seeing your ads. If you do receive one this is usually caused by a lead entering in an address outside your market area, however the device being used to submit the lead is within the area.

Lets get a better idea on how this works. All devices that access the internet are assigned an IP address which looks something like this 162.99.4.3. The device IP address can be resolved to an exact location. This is how Google knows to serve your ads to devices within your designated marketing area.

Your Apex CRM collects this info as well when a lead is submitted. You can easily access this IP address to see where the device was located.

Here is how to see the IP address:

Step 1. From your lead list click the lead name.

Step 2. From your lead summary page click the pencil icon.

Step 3. When the Edit Lead Information panel is open scroll down until you see the IP Address box.

Step 4. You can use a free online resource to lookup the location of the lead. One free resource to try is https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookup. Copy the IP address into the lookup box to see all the information associated with it.
